Pregnant Woman Attacked, Robbed in South Philly

Police say a man exited a grey SUV and punched a pregnant woman in the face before driving off with her pocketbook and a bag of food.

A pregnant woman was attacked and robbed while walking in South Philadelphia, police said.

Cops say a man got out of a grey SUV and approached the woman, who was walking on the 100 block of Manton Street (between Federal and Wharton). He punched her in the face. He then took off with her pocketbook and a bag of food she was carrying.

The victim was transported to Pennsylvania Hospital in stable condition. She was treated for swelling and bruising around her eye and held for observation due to her pregnancy.

In addition to surveillance footage, cops released these descriptions:

  • Suspect Description: Black male, medium complexion, wearing a dark colored jacket, grey sweatpants, and Nike sneakers.
  • Vehicle Description: Grey SUV, possibly a 2004-2009 Dodge Durango with damage or dulled paint on the passenger side.
