Philly Records First Birth, Homicide of 2015

Nothing changes on New Year's Day.

Philly has already recorded its first birth and first homicide of 2015.

6ABC reports: “Temple University Hospital welcomed Philadelphia’s first baby of the New Year. Sophia Graceland Dawson was born at 3:04 a.m. Thursday. She is the first child for the couple and the family’s first grandchild.”

Meanwhile, NBC 10 reports that the first homicide victim was an Olney teen: “Authorities pronounced the 19-year-old man dead at the scene of the shooting, which occurred around 5:30 a.m. on the 5800 block of North Philip Street, near Grange Avenue, in the city’s Olney neighborhood, according to officials. The teen suffered a gunshot wound to his head, police said.”
