Police: Student Dressed as Teletubby Steals Chinese Food from Refrigerator

You can't make this stuff up.

It sounds like 20-year-old Lehigh University student Terez Owens had quite the night on Saturday.

According to police, Owens, not to be confused with sports blogger Terez Owens, dressed up as the yellow Teletubby known as Laa-Laa, broke into a friend’s house, opened the refrigerator and dumped some leftover Chinese food into his, um, as police put it “man purse.”

We’re not sure which Owens should be more embarrassed about: Doing this at all or carrying around a man purse and one with Chinese food inside of it.

No, this isn’t a work of fiction. Here is an excerpt from the Bethlehem Police Department’s police log:

Originally, police said that Owens wasn’t going to be charged, but then he was charged with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

It’s not the first time that Owens has had a run-in with the law. In April, he was charged in Bethlehem with theft and receiving stolen property. Those charges were later withdrawn.

And in September, Owens was charged with illegally purchasing alcohol, since he’s a minor, and the judge placed him on “accelerated rehabilitative disposition,” which basically means that if you don’t screw up again, the court forgets about your wrongdoing.

Sounds like somebody needs to lay off the partying and hit the books.
