Pa. Governor’s Race: Wolf Keeps Big Lead Over Corbett in Latest Poll

Democratic hopeful Tom Wolf leads Republican Governor Tom Corbett 49 to 31 percent in the new Franklin & Marshall poll.

Tom Wolf, the Democratic candidate for governor, continues to hold a huge lead over Republican Gov. Tom Corbett in the latest Franklin & Marshall poll. Wolf leads Corbett 49 percent to 31 percent among Pennsylvania’s registered voters and has a larger lead (54-34 percent) among self-reported likely voters.

About 1 in 5 voters are undecided.

It might not be all Tom Wolf’s doing that he’s so far ahead in the race. Sixty percent of those surveyed say the state is on the wrong track. Just 28 percent of Pennsylvanians believe Corbett is doing a “good” or “excellent” job as governor. Compared to the previous two elected governors, Corbett is struggling.

In other news from the poll, only 31 percent of Pennsylvania voters approve of President Obama. That’s right: Corbett is doing even worse than Obama is! Usually the other party can get support when there’s an unpopular president, but not in this case.
