Pregnant Woman, Baby Dead in North Philly Shooting

It's the second such incident in recent weeks.

A pregnant woman and her baby died after an overnight shooting in North Philly. It’s the second time in two weeks a pregnant woman has lost her life to gunfire in the city.

CBS Philly says police responded after 1 am.m to reports of a shooting at 20th Street and Nedro Avenue:

They found two victims, both of them suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims was a 25-year-old female who was eight months pregnant.

The woman and a 26-year-old man were both taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center. The pregnant woman was pronounced dead at 1:03 a.m. Doctors performed an emergency delivery, but the newly-delivered baby did not survive and was pronounced about an hour later.

The male victim is in critical condition and expected to survive. No word yet on the identities of the victims or the shooters.
