Penn’s Endowment: $9.6 Billion

That's a $1.8 billion increase from the previous year.

Maybe this is why Playboy said Penn is America’s No. 1 party school: The university’s huge endowment just keeps on getting bigger. There’s enough money for a million great parties!

The Daily Pennsylvanian reports:

The value of Penn’s endowment increased to $9.6 billion at the end of fiscal year 2014 in June — around a $1.8 billion increase from the previous year — the University reported Thursday morning at a meeting of the Board of Trustees’ Budget and Finance Committee. This is the first year in Penn’s history that the endowment has climbed above $8 billion. Last year, the endowment was valued at $7.7 billion.

The university is pretty good at investing its cash, too: Penn has a three-year average return of 10.9 percent on its endowment investments, beating the average fiscal return of 8 percent during that time.
