Man Robs West Philly Store With Banana

A man in a Hollister sweatshirt robbed an East Parkside grocery store. But he only purported to have a gun.

Orange you glad it wasn’t a gun?

Police say the Tejada Grocery in East Parkside was robbed by a man who had earlier picked up a banana from the counter. He used it inside his sweatshirt to simulate a handgun.

The suspect escaped with an unidentified amount of money, and was last seen on 40th Street headed toward Wyalusing Avenue. Here’s the police description:

Suspect Description: Black male, 5’9-5’11″, 140 lbs., thin build, wearing a tan hooded sweatshirt with “Pacific Coast Hollister 19″ on the front in red lettering, and black pants.
