Pennsylvania Senate Library Has ‘50 Shades of Grey’ Audiobook

There's a list of "eyebrow-raising" audiobooks that are in the Pennsylvania Senate library. Don't worry, your eyebrows won't raise that high.

A report from WHTM-TV, an ABC affiliate serving the Susquehanna Valley, recently reported on the Pennsylvania Senate Library. The library, which moved to its current location in the Pennsylvania State Capitol in 1906, has a large selection of books for senators to check out for research.

It also has a large selection of audiobooks. And WHTM-TV got the list of audiobooks and flagged a bunch of titles it said were “eyebrow-raising.”

Here’s the full list of audiobooks cited by the station:

Fifty Shades of Grey

Daring Book for Girls

Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Girls in Trucks

Naked

Secret Lovers

Carpe Diem: How to Become a Latin Lover

Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim

Schmucks: Our Favorite Fakes, Frauds, Lowlifes and Liars

Are Men Necessary?

Failed States: The Abuse of Power and the Assault on Democracy

Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them

100 People who are Screwing up America

Fifty Shades is, I guess, very strange, but a lot of the other books are just popular fiction or political books. (Are Men Necessary? is a Maureen Dowd book. Lying Liars is Al Franken. 100 People is conservative columnist Bernard Goldberg’s 2005 tome; No. 30 in his book is, hilariously, Latrell Sprewell.) And the two most objectionable-sounding titles — Naked and Dress Your Family — are just David Sedaris collections.

Carpe Diem: How to Become a Latin Lover is about Latin the language.

Regardless of how non-objectionable these books mostly are, the state senate does own an official copy of the Fifty Shades of Grey audiobook. From now on, we are legally allowed to assume every senator in Pennsylvania is listening to it on his or her drive to and from Harrisburg.
