Giant Snake Terrifies Cape May

Witness saw "a python eating a seagull."

Quick. Go to this link. Look at that picture. That picture of a big giant honking snake.

That snake isn’t loose in the jungle. That snake isn’t confined in a zoo. That snake is hanging out … in New Jersey.

KYW Newsradio explains:

In the town of Villas, Cape May County, a woman last week saw what has been described as a python eating a seagull.

The woman took a few pictures, then contacted local media outlets. That’s how Lower Township police chief William Mastriana first found out about it.

“We haven’t seen anything,” he told KYW Newsradio today. “We’ve had extra patrols in the area. We’ve had officers go door-to-door in the four-block radius, to advise the residents of that area that we have some concerns about this reptile.”

The concern, of course, being that the reptile will eat the residents. It can swallow a whole seagull. And that was just the appetizer.

The good news, officials say: The snake is probably taking a post-meal nap — and will be for a month. After that: Watch out for your favorite seagulls.
