Hospital Shooting in Darby at Mercy Fitzgerald; Woman Killed

On Thursday afternoon, a hospital shooting at Mercy Fitzgerald on Lansdowne Avenue in Darby left one woman dead and at least two people injured.

Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan spoke to reporters about the hospital shooting on Thursday, stating that the incident occurred in the psychiatric ward. “The suspect does have psychiatric issues,” he said.

The identities of the suspect and victims were not immediately released, and details are still coming in. The dead woman was an employee of the hospital, and one of the injured was a doctor. There are reports that the suspect may have been shot by the doctor.

Mercy Fitzgerald was placed on lockdown after the shooting but has since reopened.
