Michael Strange Foundation Holding Benefit Friday Night

The $30 beef and beer in Tacony features live music and comedians.

The foundation named after Northeast Philadelphia’s Michael Strange, a Navy cryptologist who was killed in Afghanistan in 2011, is holding a beef and beer benefit Friday night. It’s at Curran’s Irish Inn at 6900 State Road (State and Longshore) in Tacony.

Tickets are $30 and include food, beverages, and live music. Comedians “Sudsy” and Mike Clement will be performing, while The Insiders Band, Stellarbelly and DJ Spanky provide music. Navy Seal Benjamin Smith (Ret.) and Admiral Ace Lyons (Ret.) will also be speaking.

Jason Fagone chronicled the questions surrounding Michael’s death and his father Charlie’s attempts to get answers in a recent story for Philadelphia magazine: “How Did Michael Strange Really Die in Afghanistan?”

For tickets to the benefit, call Charlie Strange at 215-983-4470. Tickets will also be available at the door. Here’s the Facebook page for the event.
