PA Woman Gave Bogus Physicals to Truckers

The New York Daily News reports that a Pennsylvania woman, Joann Elizabeth Wingate, is facing charges after it was discovered she was giving truckers physical exams — even though she wasn’t actually a practicing doctor. There were at least 16 victims, according to reports.

The truck driver told police that he saw an ad for physicals – ones required for his commercial driver’s license – posted at the Blue Beacon Truck Wash in Middlesex Township.

After contacting the number listed, he said a “Dr. Wingate” picked him up and brought him back to her home where she performed a physical for $65.

It included “everything that a doctor would normally do,” he told state police,according to Penn Live.

Authorities says Wingate “was using the license information of a Philadelphia-area psychiatrist who shared her last name.” She’s being held by Cumberland County authorities on $10,000 bail. Police suspect there arevoe
