Philadelphia Named 6th Best City for Singles

A report gave Philadelphia this prestigious honor. We’re a better place to date than Jersey City!

Pat yourself on the back, single people. According to, Philadelphia is the sixth-best city for singles in the country. Before you get too excited, please note that the list includes Jersey City (Jersey City!) at No. 9 and the usual suspects (Seattle, Boston, D.C., New York, San Francisco) in the top five. But, hey, sixth-best is pretty good!

Per the site, 26 percent of Philadelphia’s population is single (and the median one-bedroom rent is $1,295 — and, yeah, you can live for much cheaper than that if you look around a bit).

As a longtime Philadelphia single person… yeah, sure, that sounds about right. I have no idea if it’s better to be single in Seattle than Philadelphia, but Philly’s a good (and cheap) place to go on a variety of dates. We have good bars and good cultural attractions and, per a report last year, a lot of good tennis courts to go on dates to. So if you’re single, don’t fret! Philly’s a good place to meet someone.

This is really not accurate! Just because people live alone (!?) doesn’t mean it’s a great place for singles. Consideration would/should include quality of the “singles” pool- this is Philly afterall, age and other demographic, yes, we have tons of single 18 -24 year old boys!
