Rittenhouse Rape Suspect Worked at Tashan

The Indian restaurant has released a statement about Milton Garcia.

rittenhouse-rapist-tashanPolice have arrested 28-year-old Milton Garcia for the rape and robbery of a 26-year-old woman who lives on the 1900 block of Spruce Street in Rittenhouse Square. Garcia was arrested at Tashan, the popular Indian restaurant on Broad Street, where he was a part-time employee.

Tashan has released the following statement:

Philadelphia Police have arrested a part-time kitchen employee Milton Garcia in connection with an on-going rape investigation.

Garcia has been employed at Tashan for 3 months and presented all appropriate documents for employment.

He was also by employed at two others businesses in the city.

Other than showing up for assigned shifts and performing his limited duties, with NO CUSTOMER INTERACTION, Garcia gave us no reason to suspect he was involved in any criminal activity.

We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation.

Great hire! I will never eat there again! im sure he was illegal as well
    dirty place anyway

    • Len

Nearly all of the immigrants are illegal in these kitchens. They’re hired b/c they work for near nothing. I worked in the industry for years.

      • SedatedManiac

True… but they are hired because they are hard workers and not lazy like the white and black kids.

        • wiselatina2theright

That is a very racist statement and stupid. You are defending a rapist bc he knows how to wash dishes well?

          • SedatedManiac

By reading your other comments on this subject it is obvious you are a weak Troll.

    • Tark Blimtrep

      It is obvious that:
      1) You didn’t read the article. (It says he was legal.)
      2) You’ve never eaten at Tashan. (It’s clean.)
      3) You rarely dine out. (No one makes decisions based on the status of a dishwasher.)

      • MydikisLarge

Tark, Tashans kitchen is filthy, the rapist was in this country illegally
,and i will not patronize any business associated with rapists.regardless if they manage it,or clean toilets.Get with the program “Tark”LOL

      • Mike Oneill

It does NOT say he was here legally. He “presented papers” which could easily be fake. And if the business doesn’t check his I9, SS#, SS card, etc. etc., they wouldn’t know. It’s turning a blind eye. I wish people knew how easy it is (and low cost) to check the status of someone’s SS# and eligibility. The owners need to step back from greed and build this into their costs.

      • Mike smith

On your 2nd point your way off I’ve worked there it’s the most unclean place I’ve ever worked!! And I would never eat there or recommend anybody do!! And that’s another reason why I left

    • Rose B.

Maybe he has hepatitis, tuberculosis or is a typhoid carrier. All the more reason not to eat at such restaurants.

  • Bob Dobolino

Well heck I’m sure he’s here legally, I don’t know about you. And even if he did sneak into the country illegally, there’s no way he could possibly be a violent criminal. Let’s make sure we don’t even check his immigration status by not cooperating with ICE. That way if he is here illegally, he can just be released back into our community when he makes bail, rather than being deported.

    • Estefania

I love how just because he has a dark face and a latino name, you automatically assume hes not here legally.

      • Bob Dobolino

I love how suckers like you want to play like he isn’t here illegally. Try looking him up on the internet, you’ll find out real quick he’s not here legally. Just because he has a dark face and a latino name, he doesn’t have to follow US immigration law? Why do US taxpayers have to subsidize certain industries that hire illegal labor.

        • http://chrissmari.org ChrissMari

People with dark faces and Latino names are born in the US everyday

      • Rose B.

Channel 6 is reporting that he is an illegal alien.

  • Len

Well I hope it’s the right guy considering his face is now plastered all over the news.

    • Rose B.

Police found him at Tashan with the victim’s keys on him.

  • Rose B.

“Only three months” “only part time” “had the papers” – how convenient. No doubt they will come up with some papers and say that the perpetrator used them. Hogwash.

  • Earl J

The Nurula’s are wonderful people and employ many good folks at Tashan and Tiffin. This scumbag should is responsible for his own actions.

    • wiselatina2theright

The Nurula’s put the safety, health and welfare of their enployees and community below their interest in hiring cheap illegal alien labor. e-Verify is free, takes a few seconds to screen an applicant’s employment eligibility. No Excuse. Perhaps they should do that now for the rest of their employees.

      • Tark Blimtrep

Not attacking you, but how do you know he was illegal? “Garcia has been employed at Tashan for 3 months and presented all appropriate documents for employment.”

        • Mike smith

I know because I was there when he started and saw the steps he took to get his paper with a few days of being hired. He had a id and new social Security card within days. If a proper investigation is done that place will be expose.

        • Rose B.

Channel 6 has reported he is an illegal alien. I would like to hear from Homeland Security whether he was a “permiso” holder who disappeared, or whether he sneaked across the border.

    • wiselatina2theright

      Wonderful people hire responsibly.

      • Tark Blimtrep

Frankly, I would sooner hire “an illegal” than most of the junkies squatting in NoLibs.

  • wiselatina2theright

Bull crap, the restaurant should produce the so called documents. Every person who hires, houses illegal aliens threatens the safety and security of the community. Mayor Nutter declared Philadelphia a sanctuary city a few months back. This allows criminal aliens like this sexual predator to easily blend in with the rest of the “immigrant” community. Every crime committed by an illegal alien is 100% preventable if our borders were secured, our laws enforced and unscrupulous businesses would use E-verify to screen applicants for employment. Stop the madness.

    • The Legend

      go away dude.

      • Rene Sisk

Or if we just relaxed the laws and the. Knowing who is here would be so much easier.

        • SteffGibbonsrae

          like Jacqueline implied I’m
taken by surprise that a mom can earn $8130 in 1 month on the computer . see

  • bbbb

Legal or illegal he has no right to do such … The restaurant in which he worked has nothing to do with what he did . It’s like blaming schools for hiring teachers who rape kids … ohhhh wait ! Yeah schools are responsible for that , but can u tell if is not any criminal record …. wait people who work in schools are legal and white and black and Spanish, but they still raping kids ..anyway he deserves to be punish for his act ,but please the restaurant has nothing to do with it neither his immigration status. ..

    • wiselatina2theright

Teachers are required by law to pass criminal background checks. Illegal aliens not so much. Every idiot who hires illegals is taking a huge risk. So this rapist could wash dishes well and hold three jobs. Was it worth it? E-Verify is free, online and fast. No excuse.

      • Mike Oneill

E-Verify isn’t very good. But it will work. The owners could take some of the 2-3X markup on alcohol and pay for a regular background service.

        • wiselatina2theright

Everify has a 98% accuracy rate, that is why the open borders, U.S. Chamber of Commerce (representing the cabal of illegal alien employers like the Nurula’s ) don’t want people to use it.

          • Mike Oneill

I’ve used it. How on earth can you guarantee me 98% accuracy rate? What’s the latest study?

    • wiselatina2theright

Every crime cimmited by an illegal alien is 100% preventable if our borders were secured, our laws enforced and unscrupulous usiness owners like the Nurula’s would follow the law and verify employment eligibility to make sure they are hiring only legally eligible workers.

      • Mike Oneill

don’t worry, if it weren’t an illegal doing the crime there would be a pure blooded American there to pick up the slack. If you haven’t noticed, we don’t need to rely on immigrants for crime in this country.

        • Rose B.

True, but it’s not a reason for importing more criminals from abroad.

  • Frankie L.

Does anyone know the other two businesses at which he worked?

    • Rose B.

Just because the Indian restaurant proprietor says the perpetrator worked at two other businesses, does not mean that he worked at two other businesses. He’s making up stories to cover his …. expletive/synonym for donkey.

  • wiselatina2theright

This illegal alien is one of Obama’s “untouchables” via the unconstitutional DACA , which basically ties the hand of law enforcement from reporting or arresting illegals under age 30…until they commit a serious crime. Criminal aliens with no verifiable identities, criminal history or medical checjpks are a serious public safety and health risk. There are 50,000 illegal alien minors, diseased, unvaccinated and many openly display signs of gang membership that have recently invaded our nation via Mexico, being disbursed all around our nation, one sanctuary city at a time. Wont be long before Nutter announces he is opening the city to them as well.

    • Mike Oneill

Did you vote for Bush both times?

  • Dan

Philadelphia democrats get what they vote for illegals committing crimes

  • Mike

I’m a former employee at this restaurant and believe that’s all they do there is hire illegal aliens… They know all there paper is fake and other employees there often recommend them that are also from Honduras. The owner prefers to have a kitchen with all immigrants because he pays them next to nothing. We use to joke around there and say he’s running a sweat shop… If anyone was to look into that place they would see what I’m saying is true and regardless what statement they make believe they know these guys paper work is forged

    • Tark Blimtrep

So you admit to being an illegal alien, if that’s all they hire there?

      • Rose B.

They put token Americans out in front – to communicate with customers. Go into a busy pizza and take out store and you will see the same. Peer towards the back and watch those workers in the kitchen get nervous.

      • Mike Smith

No that’s why I left cause I don’t speak Spanish and the whole kitchen was!!

        • Mike smith

And like someone posted after I already said that channel 6 has reported he was!!!!

    • Charles

If you hate illegals, start picking your own vegetables, washing your own dishes and cutting your own grass. You can’t stand illegals but you can’t live without them either.

      • Tony G

I do all those things and work 13 hours a day, born in this country, served in army and I want illegals screened

      • spijim

Yeah, yeah, yeah “Illegals are just doing the jobs that americans don’t want to do . . . for $7 an hour.” Exploitation is exploitation. The answer is a living wage not importing more of the world’s desperate and destitute to keep wages down.

        • Rose B.

Americans managed to do that work before. And the jobs are not limited to washing dishes and picking vegetables. How about barber, brick mason, cabdriver, carpenter, carpet installer, cement worker, chauffeur, cook, dairy worker, drywall installer, grounds maintenance worker, housekeeper, mason, painter, parking lot attendant, roofer, stucco worker, for a start.

    • somepeoplearestupid

if all they do is hire illegal aliens, and you’re a former employee…. does that make you an illegal alien?

  • Oliver

Legal, illegal. You’re way off topic. He wasn’t arrested for not having documents. He was arrested for rape. Do you think it matters to his victim if he’s documented? Could have been a born-in-the-USA-bleeds-red-white-and-blue offender. The problems are unsafe US cities and violence against women.

    • Bob Dobolino

Yeah I do think it matters if he’s documented or not, because if he wasn’t allowed to enter and stay in the country illegally, he wouldn’t have been here in the first place to rape that poor lady. So yes the problem is also that we don’t enforce our immigration laws, and as a result we let criminal aliens into the country. Illegal immigration benefits a few, but costs all of us a great deal.

      • Rose B.

It’s got to the point where even LEGAL immigration costs all of us.

    • Dan

He shouldn’t be in the country. End of story.

  • myveronaskyy

I was once a server there for about 9 months and the owner was so insanely cheap. He would bring his entire family in for dinner, like up to 12 people, have one of the servers wait on them hand and foot, from beginning to end, and would never end up leaving any sort of tip. This happened on more than one occasion. Thank goodness I got out of there, there were soo many warning signs that I would see on the regular…I knew it would only be a matter of time before they all caught up.

    • Mike Smith

And I can vouch for being a former employee

      • The Other Guy

I’m in the Philly restaurant industry and I’ve hear from friends and colleagues about the shady doings and filth of Tashan. I understand this has nothing to do with the investigation but unfortunately his actions and and business ethnics have come under scrutiny because of who works for him and their actions. It’s the price of doing business. People can agree or disagree with the immigration aspect but it’s as easy as a proper investigation of the employers actions, did he take proper or reasonable actions to make sure his employees were legal works I think not. Check his current employees and see if they are legal to work in the United States. If not you’ll see a trend and realize he turned a blind eye. Just have someone check his current and previous employees for the past 6months and you’ll easily see if he just didn’t care or he was taking advantage of the system. Your taxes pay for these things.

        • Barry

As a former employee of tiffin, I saw this over and over with the employees there. Blackmailing them with their illegal status to get them to do more and more, working them 14 or more hours seven days a week, doing all production for all of the stores, and let’s not start on the unrefrigerated delivery vehicles used to transport food to all of the other tiffins and Tashan. I guarantee that if there was a real investigation, they would find all sorts of bad behavior on the owners part

  • mike

Anyone bringing up US immigration problems in relation to this story is clearly very out of touch with reality. It has nothing to do with him being illegal or legal, a poor woman was raped. And I hate to break it to you all, but US citizens rape all the time as well. And them to group together and stereo type all immigrants because of the actions of one man is ridiculous.

    • Dan

Yea ignore the fact he shouldn’t be in the country or democratic party policies allowing him to stay in a sanctuary city. Fail.

  • Dan

Why is it really relevant that he worked at Tashan? I personally don’t get the place as a restaurant, but to smear it by linking it to this potential rapist is pretty low level yellow journalism.

  • The Other Guy

Just shut the joint down you can get the same food at 1/2 the price, 1/2 the roaches delivered to your front door in your underoos from tiffin while watchin’ USA whip Germany’s butt. Lets go USA!

  • gandhus

I love how the restaurant’s statement puts emphasis on “no customer interaction”, as if that is the paramount concern of any patron or city resident. Of course I don’t hold Tashan responsible for this man’s actions but the effort to put distance between themselves and the suspect seems so desperate and sad…might as well have said “An alleged bad man worked here, but we still wish to make as much money as possible!”. Again, highlighting that one characteristic of his time with them is just odd. Why don’t all criminals’ employers feel the need to make such statements? Perhaps because he was arrested at the restaurant? Don’t know. I wonder if such a statement would have been made if he had been arrested elsewhere.

  • rose

I like how everybody is making this an immigrant issue as if legal residents of this country didn’t rape. If all the illegal immigrants were deported there would still be plenty of raping robbery and murder. But sure blame illegal immigration because of this one dude.

    • The Other Guy

But we are talking about this specific issue not a legal. If you wanna talk about legals get on a different discussion about another crime. So discuss this specific crime or put an egg in your shoe and beat it. LETS GO USA!

  • senior aliens

Why are many residents of subsidized senior apartment buildings in center city, NOT US citizens? Many are Chinese nationals!

Google is paying 80$ per hour! Work for few hours and have more time with
