Be careful out there.

On Saturday around 1:20 a.m., a 26-year-old woman was walking home from Ladder 15 on Sansom Street to her home on the 1900 block of Spruce Street. As she approached her building, a man grabbed her from behind and forced her into her apartment, where he raped and robbed her. A surveillance camera on the block caught the moment when he accosted her on the street, as seen below.

Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic male, 25 to 30 years old, between 5'5" and 5'10" tall, weighing about 160 pounds. He was wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans, and a dark colored baseball cap and carrying a black messenger bag.

If you have any information about the crime or the suspect, contact the Special Victims Unit at 215-685-3252.

Last night’s news said this slimeball rode “his” bike past the woman, who was walking in the same direction. After he had stalked her this way, he pulled well ahead so he could (or could at least pretend to) lock “his” bike to a pole. Then as she passed him by, he grabbed her from behind & forced her inside. When he escaped from the scene of the crime, the TV news said he ran down one of the flanking numbered streets. Leaves two Q for me: (1) Did the police use that bike to help track/ID him? (2) How could he have known to jump her right at her building’s doorway (our blocks have dozens of doorways into a variety of buildings, virtually all of them residential or at least upper floors residential)?!?! How would he not expect to be encountered by residents passing by as he forced her into her apartment? Just dumb? Just drunk/high enough to not think that hard? I thought she was grabbed at something like 9:30, but guess I misremembered that.

Is the time stamp on the video wrong? The article says it happened around 1:20am, but the time stamp on the video shows closer to midnight.

Probably on standard time. My PS3 is stuck one hour in the past too.

I don’t quite understand what I just watched…but this is why privacy freaks need to get over themselves and we get more surveillance cameras out on the streets. If there was no camera at all there’d be no proof, no nothing for cops to go on.

    Why was the video removed?
