PA Gubernatorial Campaigns Are Burning Through Money

Wolf, Corbett each expected to spend millions on the way to November election.

Tom Corbett is spending money twice as fast as Tom Wolf. But Wolf, in turn, is raising cash at nearly twice the pace of his opponent in Pennsylvania’s gubernatorial race.

Campaign finance reports filed Thursday show:

• Corbett’s campaign raised $1.38 million during the latest reporting period of May 6th through June 9th, including $330,000 from political action committees; Wolf’s campaign raised $3.47 million, including $2.3 million from PACs.

• Corbett’s campaign spent $2.89 million during the period; Wolf spent $1.98 million.

• That left Corbett with $4.8 million in the bank on June 9th; Wolf had $3.1 million on hand.

Experts say each man should raise at least $10 million more during the course of this race. “I’m a firm believer that neither candidate is going to have trouble raising money,” said G. Terry Madonna, a pollster and political science professor at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster. “…  Both have the unified support of their party. Both have interest groups that are highly vested in their campaign.” (YDR.com)
