Philly Won’t Pursue 2024 Olympics

"The timing is not right for Philadelphia."

Philly won’t host the 2024 Olympics after all, Fox 29 reports.

Mayor Nutter today released his letter announcing the decision. He was backed by Comcast Vice President David L. Cohen.

The Executive Vice President, of Comcast Corporation, David L. Cohen, is one of the advisers of the team exploring hosting areas for the Olympics.

Cohen said, “I fully support the decision for Philadelphia not to pursue a 2024 Olympic bid at this time. We’ve looked closely at this opportunity over the past year with the City and a number of other key stakeholders, and agree that the timing is not right for Philadelphia.”

Nutter said the city would compete for future Olympics games.
