Penn President Dances ‘Gangnam Style’ at Graduation, for Some Reason

While John Legend gave the commencement address at graduation, Penn president stole the show (?) with her rendition of the "Gangnam Style" dance.

Penn celebrated its 258th commencement yesterday, and Amy Gutmann — the school’s president — decided to do the “Gangnam Style” dance during her address. Sure, why not!

As you can see from the clip, she was perhaps a little embarrassed to be dancing to The Song of Late Summer, 2012, just before the start of Summer, 2014. She really should have been doing the Nae Nae, but, eh, academics are always a little behind on pop culture.

Obviously, this calls for a GIF.

My favorite part of the clip, though, is the Penn graduate who is very upset she was on screen doing the horsey dance.

“Gangnam Style” wasn’t the only highlight of Penn graduation: John Legend, a 1999 Penn grad, gave the commencement address. When Legend was in college, he played piano on a track on The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. They could have given him the honorary doctorate right then!

But, more importantly: Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue cover model Chrissy Teigen was in West Philly with her husband — and was barefoot, gasps the Daily Mail.

Let’s not be too hard on Gutmann, though. Her horsey dance was better executed than the time Jodie Foster rapped Enimem’s “Lose Yourself” at Penn graduation.
