Police: Love Triangle Behind West Philadelphia Shootings

Cops say two shootings in Cobbs Creek last night appear to be related: A man shot his former girlfriend and her new beau.

Police told all four local news stations a double-shooting in West Philadelphia was the result of a love triangle.

NBC 10 quotes Chief Inspector Scott Small on what happened: Police found a 34-year-old Cobbs Creek man shot in the face; he was able to tell officers he’d been shot through the screen door. Shortly afterward, a 41-year-old woman was shot at her home at 58th and Delancey.

“Preliminary information indicates to us that they may be related and that it may be domestic in nature,” Small told NBC 10. The station’s Christine Maddela reports the shooter is suspected of previously or currently being in a relationship with the female victim; the male victim is the woman’s new beau.

The woman is in critical condition at Penn. Wednesday night’s incident — which happened just before midnight — comes just a day after two double shootings in West and North Philly.
