Anti-Privatization Ad Is the Reefer Madness of PA Liquor

If private stores sell liquor, children will die.

It’s the Reefer Madness of booze privatization in Pennsylvania!

The ad is sponsored by the UFCW PA Wine & Spirits Council. The UNFCW, meanwhile, is the United Food and Commercial Workers union. Which represents the employees of the state-owned stores. Not exactly a disinterested group.

PennLive reports: “The union spent $300,000 to buy airtime on television and radio stations around the state on ads running for 10 days .. that speaks of North Carolina’s experience where its privatized system for beer and wine sales (liquor is sold only in government-run stores) is blamed for contributing to one child per week, on average, last year dying in underage drinking-related accidents.”

the next spot will tell how black men drink 40 ounces of malt liquor and look for white women to rape.

Only if it was sold to them by a non-union employee.

        good point.

Well, that was a waste of time. Dry counties sound like a freaking blast.

Just do it like we do in Rhode Island…. ALL Beer, Wine, and Booze, are sold at private LIQUOR STORES, no where else like MA. There’s no need to make alcoholic beverages available “where kids go” like the supermarket and gas station. No reason the STATE should control all liquor sales, its funny this is a issue.

Get rid of the LCB!! I am normally pro-union, but the union workers in
the LCB are Neanderthals. WHY doesn’t the union spend $300,000 to train
its workers in customer care? Get them off their cell phones. Tell them
no, its not OK to tell a customer to WAIT A MINUTE. You don’t get that
at Total Wine. You get I’ll be right with you and a nice smile. I live
part of the year in Arizona and buy beer, wine and liquor in
supermarkets. There are never any kids there in the liquor aisles! This
is just stuff and nonsense. I will never spend a red cent in a PA LCB store!

I work for the liquor stores and I find this Ad ridiculous and embarrassing. Also that is very kind of you Merilyn to call all us workers Neanderthals. I bet you are a very pleasant lady.
