Suspect Indicted in 2008 Death of Beau Zabel

Marcellus Jones is already in prison for killing the man cops say was the getaway driver that night.

The suspected killer of Beau Zabel, who prosecutors say was killed in South Philly for his iPod in 2008, has been formally indicted on murder charges. Marcellus Jones, who is already in prison for killing the person who cops say was the getaway driver that night, could face the death penalty.

Zabel, a native of Austin, Minnesota, was a teaching fellow at Drexel who had been here just six weeks before he was slain.


The Inquirer's Mike Newall wrote an expansive feature on the case last year which police credited for encouraging witnesses to come forward. No trial date has been set.
