Temple Journalism Student, Girlfriend Sue 2 Philly Cops

Temple journalism student Ian Van Kuyk and his girlfirend, Meghan Feighan, were arrested in 2012 after filming a police traffic stop.

Temple photojournalism student Ian Van Kuyk and his girlfirend, Meghan Feighan, are two suing Philadelphia police officers, the Daily News‘ William Bender reports.

Van Kuyk, 26, made national headlines after his March 2012 arrest on charges of obstructing justice, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct – an arrest that he said resulted from his refusal to stop snapping photos of Allen and Higgins making a traffic stop outside his home on 17th Street near Dickinson. Feighan, 24, also was charged with obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct.

In November 2012, Municipal Judge Felice Stack found Van Kuyk and Feighan not guilty of all charges.

Amusingly, the story also contains an anecdote of a Daily News reporter recording an arrest at 8th and Chestnut — and being told by a police officer to stop.

We have a revival of new citizens in the past ten years from mainline suburbia and paths unknown, they bring with them new idea’s in a city of ethnic cultures and hard times that are not used to change. Yuppies as we call them come in and want to change everything in the city from how our police conduct there business to changing the structure of our neighborhoods, where were they in the hard times in the 50’s through the 80’s when the city was in turmoil, back home in suburbia or elsewhere. This is our city two and three generations that endured all to stay and make our lives here and now the outsiders come in and dictate to the true people of Phiily black and white. We never had an outside Police Commissionaire it always came from the ranks as for our great Mayor he is a world traveler more time abroad then any Philly Mayor and now like his buddy Governor Corbett wants to sell assets of the City P.G.W. that is solvent and is holding its own, whats up his sleeve! corruption and power go hand and hand now we have Clark wants to be Mayor what will he do for the people not the rich as Mayor Nutter caters to or the new comers with ten year tax abatements on there properties, We need an honest and caring Mayor for all the people with integrity and foresight who can manage and guide the city with thought and insight not another Mayor like mister world Nutter who cares less and less about our city due to the fact he is a lame duck Mayor.
