Warm Weather Returns to Philadelphia — But What’s Looming?

It's going to be in the 60s! But the weather tomorrow could include thunderstorms and hail.

The temperature is going to hit 60 — at least! — today. Finally, some nice weather.

Sixty! Phillywx informs us it’s the warmest it’s been since we had a few springlike days in late December. Even better, the temperature will stay warm well into tomorrow, with temperatures forecast to be in the 60s for tomorrow as well.

But then, well — it doesn’t stay this warm for much longer.

One byproduct of having the low to our north is that the trailing cold front that moves through tomorrow afternoon and evening will bring a risk of thunderstorms with it. […] It could present a risk for gusty winds, brief heavy rain, and perhaps some small hail.

The resulting frontal passage will mean business — temperature could drop 20-25 degrees in a 3 hour window tomorrow evening as the front moves through — timed to move through around 8 PM although some guidance has it moving through later than that.

A 20 to 25 degree drop! That still leaves us in the 30s at worst, but it’s not ideal. Fortunately, the snow will remain confined to the mountains and North Jersey at least — according to a report from The Star-Ledger, it will remain even farther north.

Enjoy the warm day! Just remember to pack your umbrella tomorrow.
