TV stations know that when another network has what many view as must-see programming — like the Super Bowl or the Olympics — their ratings are going to decrease. But not too many come out and say it like Channel 6!
This is great. While you're watching the Olympics on NBC 10, watch us on your phone or tablet! I guess this type of advertising was inevitable with the rise of the "second screen," but I've never seen anything like it before.
I'm not sure if it will backfire, though: When I watched it, I was reminded the Olympics were probably on that afternoon and changed the channel. I don't have any 6 ABC apps, though I am more aware of them now.
