Sixers Want to Trade for Another Lakers Big Man

We're starting to sense a theme.

SportsWorldReport: “The Latino Post reports the Lakers are beginning to aggressively seek a trade for Pau Gasol that would include Philadelphia 76ers’ Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes. Getting rid of the four-time All-Star would certainly be a big hit to the Lakers lineup considering he is thriving in the absence of Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash, but there is little belief that Gasol intends to remain with the Lakers so the team could make a trade instead of letting him walk away for nothing.”

This, after 2012’s trade for Andrew Bynum basically set up this tanking season for the Sixers. We can’t imagine why the Sixers would want Gasol now—he doesn’t fit into any long-term plan—even if to let his salary expire at the end of the season. They want to lose now! We’re guessing a buyout would be in order … and that Gasol might never play as a Sixer, becoming just the latest Laker big man to go through that scenario here.
