The Inky’s Mike Newall reported on the crime for Philly.com:
A 26-year-old woman was shot and killed for her purse Sunday night during a robbery in Northern Liberties, police said.
Around 10:25 p.m., the woman was visiting her boyfriend and walking along Front Street, near Poplar, when she was approached by two men in a dark car, possibly a Chevy Impala, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.
One of the men, who was wearing all dark clothing, then shot her in the chest while taking her purse, Small said. The woman and her mother were walking from the El when they were attacked.
The woman was taken to Hahnemann Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 11:15 p.m. Police have not identified the victim.
