Kennett Square’s Lindsey Pedicone Among First American Idol Hopefuls

She is, as they say, going to Hollywood.

On Wednesday night, the five billionth season of American Idol debuted on Fox, with Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr., and Keith Urban behind the judges’ table. And Kennett Square’s Lindsey Pedicone (seen above in a photo she posted to Facebook after the show aired) was one of the first contestants to audition, with dreams of becoming the next Kelly Clarkson or, well, Kelly Clarkson.

Pedicone, an 18-year-old graduate of Kennett High School, performed Delta Rae’s “Bottom of the River.” It’s definitely not the sameold pop-crap that made you tune out of American Idol years ago, and the judges liked her enough to send her through to the next round. Her audition starts 28 seconds into the below video. Connick seems particularly enthused.

Hopefully, Pedicone will get a chance to demonstrate her talent with plastic cups. Here she is covering “When I’m Gone” with what looks like one of those Solo drinking cups:

In her interview on American Idol, Pedicone had this to say: “Ever since the show started when I was like, 5 or 6, I had always been like, Mom, I’m gonna be on that show. Just wait.” Feeling old yet?
