Update: “Jihad Jane” Gets 10-Year Sentence

[Original] CBS Philly reports that the 50-year-old Pennsburg woman known as “Jihad Jane” will be sentenced today for her role in orchestrating a terror plot.  “Prosecutors are seeking a sentence of decades in prison for the 50-year-old defendant, instead of the formal life sentence. In a sentencing memorandum, federal prosecutors concede Colleen LaRose deserves credit for her significant cooperation which led to charges against two others and other valuable information. But they say she should spend decades in prison for her venomous plot.”

ABC News adds: “LaRose admits she plotted to kill a Swedish artist over a cartoon that offended Muslims. The judge could sentence her to life in prison, although prosecutors are asking for decades. LaRose, who called herself “Jihad Jane” in videos posted on YouTube, returned from Ireland in 2009 to surrender to the FBI.”
