Teen Girl Allegedly Raped on Two Street After Mummers Parade

Suspect caught.

The dark underbelly of Two Street after the Mummers Day Parade:

Police say [a 16-year-old] girl was walking in the area of 2nd and Tree Street when a young man pulled her behind a plastic covering of a scaffold and raped her. Officials say the girl had been participating in Mummers festivities on 2nd Street and may have been intoxicated. Residents on Tree Street next to the scaffolding say they heard screams and saw the suspect walking away when they came out to investigate.

The girl was sent to CHOP, while police caught the suspect very quickly.

Chop. Now the family will be locked into “forced voluntary services” for years, because a 16 yr old went to an event, might have tasted a bit of alcohol, and was brutally assaulted. Chop. Home of the hyper hungry, hyper aggressive, anything-but-non-profitable “child servicing social working it hard” nonprofit groups. That girl will be driven into further and repeated emotional crises so these groups can get the fed grant monies to “help” her through their hyper-induced forced crisis after emotional crisis. Just great. She will be forced to be cured over and over by crisis creationisms, until the nonprofits parasitically operating thru chop cannot get any more fed grant dollars for her plight. She will be permanently traumatized and messed up even more than she was from the assault. She loses, chop wins bigger grants, the nonprofits bare happy toothy smiles all the way to the bank. The responders would have done her a bigger favor by sending her to thomas jefferson or st christophers.

I think it’s disgusting that “officials” say she might have been drinking. What about the rapist? Was he sober? Drunk? Come on, are we still stuck in that mind-set?

This is hardly an issue of the dark underbelly of our mummer’s parade but an issue with the dark underbelly of society in general. It is tragic beyond measure what happened to this young girl and I am glad that the suspect was caught. However, this is not a reflection of Two Street after the parade or the people who call it home, any more than crimes committed in Society Hill are a reflection of the people who call that area of the city home.
