Roxy Theater Re-Opens Today

Interested in seeing “Saving Mr. Banks”?

At long last, the Roxy Theater on Sansom Street opens today. Which means that at long last, Center City’s got a movie theater again.

Since assuming operations over the venue in January 2013, the PFS Theater at the Roxy has undergone major renovations. The renovations include adding new seating, new floors, new digital projection in both theaters along with a 35MM reel-to-reel projection system in one theater, new screens, and a new sound system, new lobby, and washrooms. The theater is also very pleased to have made the Roxy ADA accessible. The Film Society will continue to work diligently on converting the PFS Theater at the Roxy into a state-of-the-Art venue yielding the best possible movie going experience.

Now, what movie would you like to see this weekend? Saving Mr. Banks you say? You’re in luck! Today’s showtimes:

What? The Ritz Bourse, Ritz East and Ritz Five are all in Center City. CC has a fourth movie theater now I suppose…

those are considered to be located in old city.

Which is a section of Center City, believe it or not.

True, though the Ritz theaters only show kind of indie stuff, and to be fair they’re a bit farther than the Roxy if you’re living west of Broad. It’s nice to see the Roxy open again.
