Pat Toomey’s Wife *Did* Get Insurance Through Obamacare

Despite what Pat Toomey says.

For the past week, Pat Toomey’s been plastered all over whatever device you use to consume political bloviating, crowing about his wife’s failed attempt to obtain health insurance through Obamacare. The Daily News’s Chris Brennan debunked that canard today with a great little scoop.

Toomey’s broadcast left out one significant piece of information: Despite the initial website difficulty, the Toomeys were able to sign up for health-care insurance through an exchange.

Kris Toomey started trying to sign up on Dec. 2 and was successful on Dec. 11, three days before her husband’s radio address, according to his spokeswoman.

Oh, snap. Here’s hoping this doesn’t stay buried in the 21st paragraph of a page seven column in today’s Daily News.

Well that’s a relief. Being so helpless you can’t operate a computer mouse isn’t exactly an advertisement for continued incumbency. It seems to me that there are certain life-skills we should expect from our senators. Here is a non-exhaustive, non-partisan list:

A sitting U.S. Senator should know that when he is golfing, he should not take shelter from a thunderstorm under a stand of trees.

A sitting U.S. Senator should be able to keep his shoes tied without need of a “shoe-tie buddy” to help.

A sitting U.S. Senator should always obey railroad crossing signals.

A sitting U.S. Senator should not smoke in bed.

A sitting U.S. Senator should know that he should not consume alcohol after taking opiates or other pain killers.

A sitting U.S. Senator should not start his car in a closed garage.

How about a Sitting Senator should STAND for something more than the fear of a Tea Party Primary Challenger. ???

Can that be the same principled Pat Toomey who was winning in a Primary until he was told to endorse Pro-Choice Arlen Specter in his previous bid for a Senate Seat??? That Pat Toomey??
