Cheer Up, Philly: At Least Your Commutes Are Relatively Short

Working close to home? A nice benefit.

The Philadelphia Mayor’s Office of Transportation and Utilities has unveiled a new chart showing that Philadelphia’s commute times are relatively short compared to other major northeastern cities.

Fifty-four percent of Philadelphia-area workers commutes of a half-hour or less—the highest proportion of any big city in the region. Of course, we’re also one of the poorest cities around, so maybe there’s a correlation there. Still: Nobody actually likes time spent commuting, so keeping it on the short side is probably mostly a positive thing.
