A Train Derailed in Philly This Morning

Nicetown no more.

At 3:30 a.m. a CSX freight train–no passengers–derailed around 22nd St. in the Nicetown/Tioga section of North Philly. Below a screenshot of the damage.

According to CBS 3, no injuries were reported and no hazardous materials leaked. (Cause we all know how that goes and it ain’t pretty.) Investigators are currently looking into the cause of the derailment. We’ll update this post accordingly if it turns out that a heroic CSX conductor diverted the train to save a damsel in distress who had been tied to the rails.
