TIME Editor Defends “Elephant” Chris Christie Cover
Not a fat joke! I swear!
TIME executive editor Michael Duffy defends his magazine’s cover against charges that it’s one giant fat joke.
The cover has come under fire for what many saw as a non-so-subtle jab to Christie’s weight. However, Duffy instead listed the other “really big” things Christie achieved in his re-election for governor on Tuesday. “He’s lifted himself beyond politics, into something of a kind of cultural figure here, the way Palin did, the way Clinton did, the way Bush even did at the start and said ‘I’m kind of past politics, I’m bigger than that. I’ll tame it when I get wherever I’m going,” Duffy said.
