Penn State Cancels Vote on New President

The end result of a mysterious closed-door meeting.

Penn State’s Board of Trustees has decided…not to decide on a new president.

The announcement came shortly after trustees finished the private session held at the Nittany Lion Inn at State College where they received an update on the search. School officials have declined to say whether a candidate has backed out or if another problem emerged in the search process. They also gave no indication whether a pick is a week, a month or months away.

I think this is what Donald Rumsfeld would call a “known unknown.” Anyways, this is sure to add more turmoil to a process already being criticized by a familiar contingent of grumblers. Current PSU President Rodney Erickson has said he will step down in June of 2014. [Inquirer]
