Woman Who Enthralled Philadelphia With Her Facebook Photos, Police Chase, Gets Prison Sentence

Media orgy manages to subside a few minutes so justice can be done.

Screen-Shot-2013-03-06-at-2.38.45-PM Remember Shayna Sykes? We’ve included a visual refresher at left if you forgot—she’s the young New Jersey woman who, along with her boyfriend, was accused last March of stealing two police cars and leading furious officers on a car chase that started in Camden and ended in Philadelphia. That produced not only the Daily News cover you see, but Dan McQuade’s awesome post about the awesome GIFs coverage of the chase produced. It’s been all downhill for Philadelphia media since then.

Anyway, Sykes was sentenced Monday—three to eight years, with seven years probation. Her boyfriend, whatshisname that nobody cares about quite as much, will be sentenced later this month.
