In Which the Denver Broncos Shower Eagles with Fake Compliments

Don’t listen to the Broncos! They’re not really praising LeSean McCoy and Michael Vick! It’s all a ruse to lull you into a false sense of security!

Raheem Moore, safety: “You have the new era of Barry Sanders at running back.” And, the real whopper: “You have a Hall of Fame quarterback.”

John Fox, coach: “He’s kind of Barry Sanders as far as his running style.”

Peyton Manning, demi-God: “We have to be executing. We have to protect the ball, because if you’re giving Philadelphia and Michael Vick and [LeSean] McCoy short fields and not doing your job, they’re capable of scoring a lot of points and a lot of points quickly.” (Coming from a guy whose team averages 16 more points a game.)

The two Barry Sanders references are especially suspect. It’s as if Denver had a flattery seminar, in which the players were taught how to arouse as little ire and motivation as possible in their opponents. That said, if the Eagles need motivation: Peyton Manning’s been whining about the schedule.
