Bashar Assad Says to “Expect Every Action” In Response to Syria Intervention

In his appearance on The Charlie Rose Show tonight, Syrian President Bashar Assad warns the US and its supporters to “expect every action” in response to potential military strikes on Syria. But not just from one source:

“You have different parties, you have different factions, you have different ideology. You have everything in this region now,”

However, those different parties and factions appear to be Hezbollah and other Syrian allies in Iran. But with this as Assad’s first public interview since President Obama asked for congressional approval of military action in Syria, that type of chest beating is to be expected.

Assad, who the US government says killed 1,400 of his own citizens via a chemical gas attack, is just as cold on Rose’s question regarding chemical warfare’s inclusion in that retaliation:

“If the rebels or the terrorists in this region or any other group have it. It could happen, I don’t know. I am not fortune teller.”

The full interview airs tonight on PBS. The start of the Syrian War, hopefully, is a little farther down the line. [CBS]
