Rand Paul is Coming to Jersey; Chris Christie Does Not Care

USA Today reports:

Sen. Rand Paul is going to New Jersey to campaign for Senate hopeful Steve Lonegan, but it looks like there won’t be any kind of “beer summit” with potential 2016 presidential rival, Gov. Chris Christie.

You’ll recall that Paul and Christie feuded in July over national security, anti-terrorism strategy and federal budgets. After trading barbs for a couple of days, Paul suggested that he and Christie “kiss and make up” over a beer. Christie responded by saying that he was too busy running for re-election in New Jersey to come to Washington.

Alas, Christie and Paul won’t be together at the Lonegan event. Christie’s campaign tells USA TODAY the governor has “long-standing plans” for a celebration weekend with his wife, Mary Pat, who turns 50 on Sept. 15., and will not be in attendance.
