Ad, Protests Ratchet Up Pressure on City Hall to Provide for Schools

Well, the American Federation of Teachers isn’t playing around, is it?

That’s not the only sign of pressure on City Hall to do more for Philadelphia schools. Here’s the agenda for an afternoon protest by the Philadelphia Coalition Advocating for Public Schools:

On Thursday, August 22nd, at 3:30 PM, at 17th & JFK Blvd. at the Comcast Headquarters, members of the Philadelphia Coalition Advocating for Public Schools (PCAPS), Fight for Philly, and other groups will gather for a rally to demand that corporations pay their ‘fair’ share.

At 4:15 PM, the group will march to City Hall to demand City Council and Mayor Nutter take action to fully fund the schools.

At 4:45 PM, the group plans to march to 440 N. Broad Street to the School District of Philadelphia’s Headquarters to the School Reform Commission (SRC)’s scheduled meeting to demand funding for the schools.
