Meet Manuel McDonnell Smith, a man who just volunteered to defend the least beloved institution in a metro area of 6 million people.
Smith will be working in the media relations department of SEPTA’s public and government affairs division. Smith comes from a journalistic background, having worked at News Corporation for nearly 13 years earlier in his career.
As a test case, Mr. Smith, imagine a scenario in which a guy passes out, pees himself, appears to be in serious distress, and then dies aboard a SEPTA bus. Now, explain why SEPTA’s “don’t alert the authorities/call a hospital” policy was the correct one. Also, meet your new friend @SEPTAtravelwoes. Good luck, sir! [Biz Journal]
