Woman Dies After Being Struck By SEPTA Train in Center City

Philly.com reports: “A woman was killed by a SEPTA train at the 15th Street stop on the Market-Frankford Line last night, a SEPTA spokesman said. The woman, whose identity and age were unknown, was struck as a westbound train was pulling into the station shortly after 10 p.m., spokesman Andrew Busch said.”

It remains unclear whether she fell or jumped, but foul play is not suspected. This marks the ninth death-by-rail in 2013; SEPTA’s recently initiated safety training program addresses rail-walking trespassers, but it’s unclear if agents are being prepared to deal with regular passengers too.
