Horticultural Society Fires Most Employees…Possibly Ever

March Flower Shows lead to June Layoffs. Doesn’t quite have the same nice April Showers, May Flowers ring to it, huh? Yesterday, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, which runs the Philadelphia Flower Show, laid off 22 employees whose salaries equal $1.2 million. That’s the same amount the Flower Show lost this year in ticket receipts, due to a dip in attendance from 2012. The Inquirer reports that this may be the greatest staff reduction in organization’s history. All because of those damn meteorologists, too! [Inquirer]
