Local DJ Killed in South Street Haagen Dazs [Updated]

At 3:45 a.m. on Saturday, 36-year-old Tom Watson, aka “DJ Fenicx,” was killed in side the Haagen Dazs on South Street. Watson, who had a standing gig at Tavern 222, and had performed at Copacabana in West Philly earlier that night, was unloading his gear into the shop, which he would pass through to reach his upstairs apartment. It was there that he was found dead, murdered in an apparent robbery attempt. [Inquirer]

Update [11:51 a.m.]: Contrary to earlier reports, police are saying the murder was related to the “large amounts” of marijuana and cocaine Watson had in his apartment, which they believe he would sell at his performances.
