Man Dressed as Cardinal Sneaks Into the Vatican for Conclave

The best story you’ll read today: An Australian man (of course he’s from Down Under) wearing a scarf for a sash, a fake necklace, and a cassock that was too short, managed to sneak into the Vatican today to confer with Cardinals meeting to determine the date of the upcoming Papal Conclave.

Not only did he mingle with dozens of Cardinals, but he got off a few questions to unsuspecting reporters. He told them his name was “Basilius,” a member of the nonexistent “Corpus Dei,” and the equally nonexistent “Italian Orthodox Church.” But perhaps his greatest coup–this was probably the giveaway–was apologizing for the Church’s practice of transferring pedophiles and pedophile enablers to other jurisdictions, rather than penalizing them.
