“PHL Crime Mapper” Documents the City’s Pain

Behold the PHL Crime Mapper, a nifty new database that lets you track crime in your neighborhood. Just draw a square on the map, showing the area you want to look at, then set the dates. Within seconds, you’ll have a neat bit of documentation showing crime’s domination over your piece of the urban hellhole—or, if you live in Fitler Square, the relative piece of mind that comes from living in privilege. (See below.) It’s a “pet project” of Dave Walk, an information services specialist at City Hall. [NewsWorks]
