11 Year-Old Girl Kicked Off CYO Football Team

Thanks, priests. The Archdiocese of Philadelphia has kicked a girl off her Catholic Youth Organization team in Bucks County, citing some rule disallowing female players from taking the field. (She’s been playing there for two years, so who knows why they’ve cracked down now.) There are a dozen similarly-themed snark nuggets available to a blogger writing about a set of Catholic priests enforcing a boys-only rule, but perhaps it’s better just to point out that there’s hope yet for young Caroline Pla: the Archdiocese is apparently reviewing the rule. And that’s encouraging, because the clergy has been especially open-minded this year about giving women the right to make decisions about their own bodies. [ABC 6]
