VIDEO: Obama’s Newtown Speech

In case you missed it, here are the remarks President Obama delivered last night at Newtown High School, a mile from the scene of Friday’s shooting. The President recounted both the tragic and the moving aspects of the shooting, including the words of a boy who tried “to encourage a grownup by saying, ‘I know karate, so it’s OK; I’ll lead the way out.'” Later in the speech, Obama signaled what appears to be an imminent push for gun control legislation, asking, “Are we really prepared to say that we’re powerless in the face of such carnage, that the politics are too hard? Are we prepared to say that such violence visited on our children year after year after year is somehow the price of our freedom?”
