Chris Christie’s First Challenger Announces Candidacy

Former State Senate Majority Leader Barbara Buono has officially entered the 2013 gubernatorial race. In her announcement video, Buono offered some tepid praise for Gov. Christie’s Sandy relief efforts, but quickly pivoted to address high unemployment and property taxes. Buono touted her working-class cred as the “daughter of an Italian immigrant who worked as a butcher” while calling out Christie for “scapegoating teachers.” [Newsworks]
