Sidney Crosby Laughs at Claude Giroux, Insinuates That the Flyers Play Dirty

Sidney Crosby—The Second Coming Pens forward that Philly loves to hate—recently responded to some comments made by Claude Giroux about the playoff series between Pittsburgh and Philly. In a brutal series, Claude Giroux started off Game 6 with what is now known in town as, “The Shift.” He asked to start, leveled Crosby and scored a goal in the opening 32 seconds of the contest. The Flyers went on to win and advance. During the offseason (which is still happening right now, for those keeping score at home), Giroux said that Crosby hacked his wrists during faceoffs throughout the series, which resulted in multiple surgeries for the Flyers forward.

Now, in an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Crosby says he finds Giroux’s complaints laughable because of the way the Flyers play hockey.

I really like to win the faceoff. I don’t try to go after his wrists but if I caught it, I’m not sorry for it. I think it’s hilarious I hear that stuff from Philly. It’s comedy to me to be honest with you. They’re probably involved in that stuff more than any team in the league and they’re the ones always talking about it. I guess I’m not apologetic. I was trying to win a faceoff and if I caught his wrist, then I caught his wrist. He seemed to play okay so I couldn’t have hurt him that bad.

Could anything on Earth possibly heighten your lust for hockey season more than Crosby calling out “the best player in the world?” [The 700 Level]
